Pavers, mulch and topsoil are the materials our own crews reorder mid-job more than anything else — and the three that most free calculators get thinly wrong. A paver tool that gives you a field count and stops has left out the base, the bedding, the joint sand and the edging, which together are most of what goes on the truck. A mulch tool that assumes three inches everywhere overstates a spring refresh by half. A topsoil tool that quietly pads for settling gives you a number you cannot reconcile against your own job.
What makes these different
They give you the whole order. Not just the surface material — the layers under it, the edge that holds it in, and the bags that finish it.
The assumptions are visible and editable. Waste percentage, base depth, bag coverage, settling allowance: every default is named on the page and every one of them is a box you can change. Most calculators bury these, which is exactly why contractors don't trust the answer.
No prices. Material costs vary by region and go stale in a season, and we don't sell material, so quoting you a price would be guessing with confidence. Quantities are universal. Take them to your supplier.

Where the math comes from
These are the same quantity formulas that run inside Estima, the CRM we build for landscape and hardscape companies — the same border-course rule, the same cubic-yard math, the same default depths. What the CRM does and these pages deliberately don't is price it: your material costs, your production rates, your margin, and a branded proposal your client can sign.
One thing the CRM asks an estimator to measure, these pages assume for you and then let you change: the run you are bordering and edging. It is pre-filled with the full perimeter and it is a box you can type in, because a patio against the house isn't bordered all the way round.
